Outside Solace is a new book published in September 2013.
Many books have been written aboutRwandasince the 1994 genocide.
What makes this one different is that it is a collection of writings from Scotland, America and Rwanda which focus mainly on the experiences of Scottish and American students and their leaders from Carnoustie High School in Scotland and St. Andrews Episcopal School in Jackson, Mississippi, as they travel to Rwanda as part of a unique partnership between the two schools.
Their visits take place within the context of the work being done there through Level 8 Projects, a Scottish based charity which has funded a range of projects in several countries.
The many colour photographs throughout the book enrich the stories that are written from the heart and give powerful expression to what it is like to be part of a cross-cultural team in Rwanda and to witness at first hand the life changing effects of well managed funding from Level 8 donors.
The book has been produced byJim Bell, who is involved with the RwSA. It costs £10 and all profits go towards a project in Rwanda which Jim’s charity, Level 8 Projects, fund.
