Looking for fun, creative and engaging activities for your kids in Cumbernauld during the October school holidays? Look no further and join in Cumbernauld Family Hub’s week of arts, crafts and games!
The planned children’s entertainment, all taking place at Cornerstone House (1 Esk Walk, Cumbernauld, G67 1BZ), is completely free of charge. Whether your children are budding artists or love some friendly competition, there’s something for everyone!
The school holiday fun will kick off with a Creative Kids session on Tuesday 15 October 2024 from 10.30am-12.30pm. This will provide a fantastic opportunity for children to explore their artistic side and allow their imaginations to run wild.
From painting and crafting to drawing and making decorative items, the two hours will be packed with creative activities that allow kids to express themselves, learn new skills and have lots of fun! Importantly, it will allow parents and children to get creative together.
Later in the week, Giant Kids Games, taking place on Thursday 17 October 2024 from 1.00pm-3.00pm, will enable youngsters to take part in supersized versions of popular games such as snakes and ladders, Connect Four, skittles and much more.
Perfect for children and adults who love games with a twist, this session will encourage teamwork, strategy and lots of laughs. It is designed to create an environment for families to bond together and children to make new friends.
Suitable for family members of all ages, these activities provide an ideal opportunity to meet other parents and children from the Cumbernauld, Kilsyth and Northern Corridor area in a safe, friendly and supported environment. A parent or guardian must accompany and supervise children at all scheduled events.
So, why not come along and take part in a school holiday week of creativity, games and unforgettable fun at Cornerstone House? An open invitation is extended to all, including those who have never previously attended a Cumbernauld Family Hub event.

WHAT IS CUMBERNAULD FAMILY HUB AND HOW CAN MY FAMILY BENEFIT?
Supported by The National Lottery Community Fund, Creative Kids and Giant Kids Games are activities of the popular and established Cumbernauld Family Hub. This is a pioneering family support resource that covers a multitude of activities to create interesting and unique personal development opportunities for local families. It is structured to be utilised by couples, lone parents and kinship carers, and aims to maximise social, environmental and cultural outcomes for parents and children.
Other regular activities coordinated as part of Cumbernauld Family Hub include Bookbug, Movie Days, Fitness Sessions, School Holiday Discos, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and Living Life to the Full courses, to name just a few.
As part of Cumbernauld Family Hub, optional Individual Family Development Plans can be created together with and for each family participant, with a view to ensuring that each beneficiary receives the optimum support and outcomes from their involvement.
A 2023 Evaluation Report evidenced that the Family Hub has initiated a range of positive impacts, including improving quality of life for families experiencing poverty and hardship, notable health and wellbeing benefits for children and parents, and increased quality in parent-child bonding.
Another noteworthy aspect is that Cumbernauld Family Hub has been lauded both in North Lanarkshire and nationally by esteemed partners and colleagues as one of Scotland’s most innovative projects in relation to improving family life for local people. It has been held up as a model for good practice in this respect, with Community and Voluntary Sector (CVS) organisations in other areas replicating similar programmes.
If your family would like to benefit from Cumbernauld Family Hub activities, events and support during 2024-25, please contact Cornerstone House Centre’s Family Hub Project Coordinator Nikki Main on 01236 739220 or email familyhub@cornerstone-house.org.uk for more information.
