Creative Kids enables children and parents / caregivers to bond through participating in arts and crafts together in a supported, safe and friendly environment. The activity is completely free of charge, although places must be booked in advance by contacting Cornerstone House Centre on 01236 739220 or by emailing events@cornerstone-house.org.uk. Bookings can also be made through completing this direct Contact Form.
Please state in your email how many children and adults will be attending, the ages of the children and any special requirements. Nikki Main, the new Project Coordinator for Cumbernauld Family Hub at Cornerstone House Centre, commented:
“If getting messy and using imagination is right up your child(ren)’s street, they will have the opportunity to be assisted to make a range of decorative items at the upcoming fun-filled Creative Kids session.
“All necessary materials and resources will be provided by session facilitators, with other general arts activities such as colouring-in and painting also available.
“The session is most suitable for toddlers and primary school pupils of all ages, although older children are also welcome. Participating children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of their attendance.
“We look forward to welcoming local families for what we anticipate will be entertaining and enjoyable afternoon facilitated in an informal and nurturing environment.
“So, with cold and rainy weather forecast for the half-term break, why not encourage your family join in the arts and crafts fun? An open invitation is extended to all, including those who have never previously attended events at Cornerstone House.”
Creative Kids is one of a range of events and sessions being organised for families courtesy of Cumbernauld Family Hub during 2024. Free Movie Days, Games Sessions, Bookbug Sessions and Living Life to the Full are just a few of the activities in line to be hosted this year at Cornerstone House for children, parents and caregivers.
Cumbernauld Family Hub, now in its eighth year of provision, offers a fresh and innovative family support resource for the Cumbernauld area, incorporating a range of activities which create interesting and unique personal development opportunities for local families. The Hub is operated by Cornerstone House Centre and has supported over 300 parents and children since its establishment.
Supported by The National Lottery Community Fund, the free service seeks to tackle inequalities, reduce poverty and increase opportunities for family members of all ages within Cumbernauld, Kilsyth and surrounding areas. A multitude of positive outcomes have been targeted by the Family Hub for the delivery period 2023-26.
In this respect, optional Individual Family Development Plans can be created together with and for each family participant with a view to ensuring that each beneficiary receives the optimum support and development from their involvement.
A 2023 Evaluation Report published evidenced that the Family Hub has initiated a range of valuable impacts since 2020, including improved quality of life for families experiencing poverty and hardship, notable health and wellbeing benefits for children and parents, and increased quality in parent-child bonding.
