A special free movie treat is being provided for children and families during the upcoming school holidays in Cumbernauld town centre, with showings of the classic movies ‘Muppet Treasure Island’ and ‘Chicken Run’.
The popular ‘Cornerstone Family Movie Days’ are returning as part of Cumbernauld Family Hub, with the films being shown at Cornerstone House Centre on Tuesday 2 April 2019 and Wednesday 3 April 2019.
Cumbernauld Family Hub, supported by The National Lottery Community Fund, provides a fresh and innovative family support resource for the Cumbernauld area, incorporating a range of activities which create interesting and unique personal development opportunities for local families. The Hub is operated by local social enterprise charity Cornerstone House Centre and has supported over 150 parents and children since its establishment in 2017.
Movie Days have been a successful part of the project during school holidays over the past two years. Karen Lawson, Project Coordinator for Cumbernauld Family Hub, commented:
“Cumbernauld Family Hub is delighted to be able to provide its first Cornerstone Family Movie Days of the year during April 2019.
“Children are invited to come along with a parent or guardian for an 11.30am start time on both days, with a Muppet Treasure Island being shown on the Tuesday and Chicken Run being shown on the Wednesday of the first week of the school holidays.
“Both movies are classified as ‘U’ films, suitable for audiences aged four years and over. Children in attendance must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the movie showings.
“Tickets must be booked in advance but are free of charge, providing parents on lower incomes with an opportunity to bring their children to fun, safe and organised family events without the pressures of financial burdens.
“We look forward to welcoming local families for what we anticipate will be entertaining and enjoyable days facilitated in a friendly and informal environment.”
