Parkinson’s UK Scotland is hosting a special North Lanarkshire Parkinson’s Information Event this May aimed at supporting individuals living with Parkinson’s and their families in Cumbernauld and the surrounding areas.
Taking place on Wednesday 7 May 2025 from 1.30pm-4.00pm at Cornerstone House Centre (1 Esk Walk, Cumbernauld, G67 1BZ), the event will inform people of the support available from Parkinson’s UK Scotland, NHS Lanarkshire and a number of other local physical activity providers.
The event is completely free of charge, with free parking available on-site and refreshments provided throughout the afternoon. A warm and open invitation is extended to all people living with Parkinson’s disease, as well as family members, carers and those with an interest in Parkinson’s support services.
The initiative has been designed in response to increasing demand for accessible and localised support for people living with neurological conditions in Cumbernauld, Kilsyth and the wider North Lanarkshire area.
Through interactive sessions, speakers, information stalls and discussion opportunities, the event aims to empower individuals and families with knowledge and access to support pathways. Mary McNeil, Development Manager at Cornerstone House Centre, commented:
“We are delighted to collaborate with and host Parkinson’s UK Scotland in bringing this important information event to Cumbernauld. It represents an opportunity for individuals and families to connect with expert services, gain valuable insights and share their experiences in a safe and understanding environment.
“Cornerstone House Centre understands the importance of making health and wellbeing support accessible at a local level, especially for those with progressive health conditions like Parkinson’s, who may be facing physical, emotional or financial challenges.”
As well as finding out about local services available, event attendees will be encouraged to share what support they need most, helping to shape future provision in North Lanarkshire.
For individuals who may be newly diagnosed, caring for a loved one or simply seeking to learn more about Parkinson’s, the event will offer an opportunity to engage with people that can help. Professionals from a range of disciplines will be on hand to provide expert advice, listen to concerns and build connections between services and service users.
Parkinson’s UK Scotland is a well-established charity which works to improve the lives of those affected by Parkinson’s across the country. Through education, advocacy and local engagement, it strives to ensure that people with Parkinson’s have the tools and support necessary to live well.
