As we approach the festive season, Cornerstone House Centre extends warm wishes for a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year to all the people of Cumbernauld, Kilsyth, Northern Corridor and surrounding villages.
It’s that time year again when everyone gets ready for the upcoming holiday season, and we hope that this will be a time of joy, peace and rest for you and your loved ones.
Looking back over the past year of activity, Cornerstone House Centre would like to thank all its service users, partners, supporters and funders for their trust and successful collaboration. Indeed, it is thanks to this support that the organisation has been able to sustain and prosper despite the challenging economic circumstances of 2024.
Your unwavering support has been instrumental in our achievements throughout the year, and we are excited to share some of the highlights of the past twelve months at Cornerstone House Centre below.

A Year of Empowering Communities: Cornerstone House Centre’s Action-Packed Journey of Community Growth Through 2024
Cornerstone House Centre completed another successful year delivery of Cumbernauld Family Hub, a National Lottery Community Fund-supported project which provides a raft of free resources and development opportunities for families living in the Cumbernauld area, during 2024.
The Family Hub initiated a range of positive impacts over the past 12 months, including improving quality of life for families experiencing poverty and hardship, notable health and wellbeing benefits for children and parents, and increased quality in parent-child bonding.
Another positive of 2024 was Cornerstone House Centre, as appointed by Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire, delivering the strategic Locality Host role for Community Solutions North Lanarkshire in the Cumbernauld and North area. A key operation within this has been facilitating a Community Solutions Consortium and a Locality Activity Fund (LAF), with the organisation making real strides forward in enabling local people to live safe, healthy and independent lives. Achievement of Year 1 delivery of a Locality Improving Lives Development Plan 2023-26 has been also been accomplished.
Meanwhile, Cornerstone House Centre worked with North Lanarkshire Ethnic Minorities Association (NLEMA), a new charity established to engage, connect and involve minority ethnic communities, to host a unique multicultural event, The RISE Festival North Lanarkshire, in June. Forming part of Refugee Festival Scotland 2024, the fun-filled event celebrated the local area’s diverse and welcoming communities by shining a light on the cultural richness of North Lanarkshire. The day incorporated a range of activities, music and entertainment, including games, arts and crafts, face painting, a live DJ, cultured food and drinks, friendly chat and other family focussed initiatives.
Into the autumn, during Challenge Poverty Week 2024, Cornerstone House Centre worked with Cumbernauld Community Board’s Food and Financial Insecurity Sub-Group and Antonine Shopping Centre to host an action-packed day of free advice, information and support in Cumbernauld town centre. Empower and Elevate: Let’s Work Together to End Poverty in Cumbernauld featured one of Cumbernauld’s largest-ever community marketplaces, with organisations from the Community and Voluntary Sector (CVS), public sector and private sector providing services for local people and families facing inequalities and financial security hosting information stalls. This enabled over 300 visitors to engage with and obtain free guidance, insight and assistance.
Other notable highlights of the year included Cornerstone House Centre encouraging Cumbernauld citizens to become Positive Smoke-Free Role Models, improving the confidence and mental health of citizens through delivery of the award-winning Living Life to the Full course and the hosting of free Unlocking Mental Wellness Multi-Activity Workshop to mark Mental Health Awareness Week 2024.
Finally, a special mention for two of The Centre’s most loyal and longstanding partners, Cornerstone Christian Fellowship and Cornerstone Café, who continued to work closely with and invaluably support the organisation’s aims and objectives during 2024.
