Cornerstone House Centre is encouraging local citizens, service users and partners to help raise free donations to support the charity’s objectives when shopping online through the very simple and user-friendly Easyfundraising platform.
Over 4,000 shops and sites will donate to Cornerstone House Centre every time you shop online using the website www.easyfundraising.org.uk to shop with them. This means that you can raise funds for the organisation every time you buy something online from retailers such as Apple, Amazon, Argos, Boots, GO Outdoors, Holland and Barrett, John Lewis, M&S, Peacocks, River Island, Slaters, Tesco Groceries, TK Maxx and Virgin Media, to name just a few.
It really is as simple registering once, free of charge, on the Easyfundraising website, and then every time you want to make a purchase with an online retailer, simply link to that retailer’s website through visiting the Easyfundraising website first and then going ahead with your online shopping as you normally would. The process works through different retailers making different donation sums to different charities based on a percentage of what someone spends. Amazon, for example, typically donates 0.5% of the purchase price to the charity selected by the shopper. This means that if Cornerstone House Centre is your chosen charity, and you link to Amazon through initially visiting the Easyfundraising website and purchase something for £10, you would raise 5p for Cornerstone House Centre from that purchase, without any extra cost to you as the shopper. The percentage donated varies from retailer to retailer, with most donating between 0.25% and 2.5% per item purchased. Some more generous companies have been known to donate as much as 10% per purchase.
Cornerstone House Centre is a Cumbernauld charity organisation which owns and operates a large, modern, multi-purpose community hub venue in the heart of Cumbernauld town centre. It provides various services and access to facilities for community groups, businesses and citizens in the local area. As a recognised Community Anchor Organisation, Cornerstone House Centre strives to benefit local people, notably those experiencing disadvantage and vulnerable groups. Mary McNeil, Development Manager at Cornerstone House Centre, commented:
“Cornerstone House Centre is a self-sustainable social enterprise, not in receipt of any local authority funding or other core funding stream. As a small charity operating to tight budgets, it is highly important for the organisation to maximise its income in as many ways as possible every year.
“In this respect, Easyfundraising provides an ideal way for the people of Cumbernauld to help raise some small additional funds for Cornerstone House Centre every time they shop online. All funds generated will go to the development of new and existing community projects, services and space, and will be spent in and specifically targeted at improving lives for those living in the greater Cumbernauld area.
“As such, we would encourage you to sign up to support Cornerstone House Centre and shop online through Easyfundraising. And of course, you can also encourage your friends and family to do the same! It’s completely free and one of the easiest ways you can support our organisation in 2020.
“Essentially, it means that whilst you make the online purchases you would regularly make, such as purchasing car insurance, booking holidays, food shopping and buying clothes, you can as an added bonus earn a small sum for Cornerstone House Centre.”
Key activities that will be supported through funds raised by Cornerstone House Centre in 2020 include Cumbernauld Community Health Information Hub, a town centre Community Space, Cumbernauld Family Hub, free personal development training programmes, employability services and the maintenance and development of the organisation’s community-owned building at 1 Esk Walk, Cumbernauld, G67 1BZ.
